چکیده

Energy harvesting is attractive for powering wireless sensors, especially in applications such as body sensor networks and pervasive sensing, where power source replacement or recharging is impractical. A MEMS (micro-electro-mechanical systems) electrostatic harvesting device suitable for body motion has been reported previously, using a rolling rod as the proof mass. A new rolling rod device is presented, employing a flexible substrate to allow the formation of a concave structure. Suitable rod confinement and increased rod–plate capacitance are achieved. Regular power transduction even under impulse motion excitation is reported, supplying 0.5 mW of output power.

Flutter Phenomenon in Flow Driven Energy Harvester–A Unified Theoretical Model for “Stiff” and “Flexible” Materials

Here, we report a stable and predictable aero-elastic motion in the flow-driven energy harvester, which is different from flapping and vortex-induced-vibration (VIV). A unified theoretical frame work that describes the flutter phenomenon observed in both "stiff" and "flexible" materials for flow driven energy harvester was presented in this work. We prove flutter in both types of materials is t...

A paper-based electrostatic kinetic energy harvester with stacked multiple electret films made of electrospun polymer nanofibers

This paper reports the first flexible electrostatic kinetic energy harvester (e-KEH) with electret nanofibrous films obtained by electrospinning and paper-based electrodes. The nanofibrous electret outperforms plenary thin film Parylene in the storage stability of charge: the surface potential is stabilized within 1 day, without any obvious minishing during the following 9 days. The output powe...

Experimental Validation of Damping Model for a MEMS Bistable Electrostatic Energy Harvester

This paper validates lumped models of an asymmetric bistable MEMS electrostatic energy harvester against measurements. A conventional model of constant damping coe cient turns out to be ine↵ective in predicting or reproducing the device response. This shortcoming is demonstrated by the e↵ective damping coe cient obtained from fits to experimental results being far from constant under varying op...

Manufacturing and Characterization of a Thermoelectric Energy Harvester Using the CMOS-MEMS Technology

The fabrication and characterization of a thermoelectric energy harvester using the complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS)-microelectromechanical system (MEMS) technology were presented. The thermoelectric energy harvester is composed of eight circular energy harvesting cells, and each cell consists of 25 thermocouples in series. The thermocouples are made of p-type and n-type polysilic...
